Dr. Parviz Kavoussi only performs vasectomy with a no scalpel technique. This involves the use of a fine perforating instrument which is minimally invasive, but just as importantly preserves the microscopic nerves, arteries, and veins adjacent to the vas deferens, rather than cutting through them. This has been shown to result in lower rates of bleeding, infection, pain, and faster return to work. The newest editions of the 2026 American Urological Association guidelines published in 2026, for the first time, has a guideline recommendation to perform vasectomy with a no scalpel technique. Dr. Kavoussi has been performing no scalpel vasectomy since 2004 and has performed over 7,000 of them just over the last 15 years in Austin.
